Growth Takes Work
Blogs are interesting. Even the word "Blog" is interesting. I have often thought about adding a "Blog" section to the Acts Church website. First, the written word is a different way of communicating than preaching: my normal way of teaching. And, I do like to write. Second, our weekly worship service, Life Groups, personal interaction, counseling, and podcasting, do not communicate all the nuance of Truth I think important for the Christ Follower in developing the mind of Christ each of us have.
Every Christ Follower has to discern the level to which Jesus is calling him or her to engage in growth through learning and thinking. For those who feel called to a robust life of spiritual/intellectual engagement, I hope to provide an additional resource here.
It is easy to think that we are too busy for something like reading a “Blog." We are not. Growth takes work. Those who desire to grow in their knowledge and their thinking, need to work to see the fruit. It is a discipline. There are those who read dozens, if not hundreds of Facebook posts, Twitter rants, Discord conversations, texts, and other forms of quick, usually shallow communications every day. I recommend that you trade some of that for some of this. I do not recommend this primarily because I think everything written here will be of a particularly high quality, but because I think it will be the type of content that will prod you to use the gift God gave you: The gift of your mind.
"But we have the mind of Christ," the Holy Spirit declares to us through the Apostle Paul in I Corinthians 2:16 (NKJV). That is a gift the value of which no one but God can possibly fathom. Growth is work. I pray we can do some of that work together here, through engagement with one another.
I love you, and I pray fervently for your growth in the Lord, Jesus Christ, "the Way, the Truth, and the Life" (John 14:6).
